Work of Art

Project
Work of Art was a professional development program designed to strengthen creative business capacity for women across regional NSW. Delivered by Regional Arts NSW (RANSW) in partnership with Creative Plus Business and funded by Women NSW, the program supported around 70 regional women to build the confidence, connections, and strategies required to sustain their creative enterprises. Fourteen Regional Arts Development Organisations (RADOs) supported the program, ensuring broad regional representation and localised impact – my selection was through Southern Tablelands Arts.

Process
Over 18 months, I participated in a structured learning program combining online and in-person training. The process also included mentorship and peer coaching, networking, and industry exchanges and co-design of a major regional forum and showcase, culminating in a two-day symposium where participants presented creative projects and reflected on evolving practices.

Outcomes

My participation in Work of Art was instrumental in developing the skills, networks, and strategic foundations that led to the establishment of Third Place Studio as a CACD and placemaking practice in Harden–Murrumburrah. The program provided the framework to translate my creative business concept into community-embedded, arts-led activation strategies. Connections formed during the program continue to inform my collaborative regional projects.

Ongoing
The relationships and methodologies developed through Work of Art remain integral to my ongoing practice. They underpin current collaborations with Regional Arts NSW, Southern Tablelands Arts, and RALLY arts-led rural revitalisation.

The program’s legacy has extended beyond our individual development – it continues to shape sustainable, place-based creative ecosystems, supporting regional women to lead cultural change, strengthen community connection, and contribute to the resilience of rural creative industries.
